What Exactly is a Tennessee Twister
Rod?
The Tennessee Twister is a casting rod that has guides that start
out on the top of the rod blank and then transition in a spiral
fashion to the bottom of the rod. This technique makes the rod more
stable in that it does not allow the rod to twist in the hands which
can cause fatigue for the fisherman. In a traditional wrapped method
with all guides lined up on the top of the rod, the rod will twist
or torque when under a load, pulling the guides downward. With the
Tennessee Twister this will not happen. It works in the same way
that a spinning rod functions. It has no torque because the guides
are already on the bottom of the rod. That's why we at Madfish Rods
feel the Tennessee Twister will be a more stable rod for all your
fishing needs.
